Lag B'Omer Poem

I'm a day late with this poem.
This one comes from the blogger formerly known as Jewmaican..

How long
will it take
for us to
find
each other?

Are you near me
almost under my nose
or are there oceans
vast and deep
literally and figuratively
between us?

Have we met?
Have we seen
each other
not knowing
but deriving pleasure
from the thrill
of that possibility?

How will we know?

By something
you ( I )
say?
A gesture, a comment
I ( you )
make?

Can you imagine how
it will be?
How we will
help
one another
grow?

How I will be
your strength
Faithful
Always
constant and consistent

And you
will complete me
cloaking my prose
with your melody
Poetry e-motion...

Do you yearn
as I yearn
are you tired of waiting
as I am?

I thought so...

See you soon...

Eretz Yisrael by Ruth E

"The time will come," I said.
She looked at me. Hard.
But not so much hard as
.....fiercely, intensely soft.

Her breath touched me,
....a hot breeze cavorting over the land.
Her eyes filled like the sea.
Her skin pulsed ... every inch of it pulsed
...with the beat that is the beat
...of the land,
......of her heart,
.........of my own.

I drank from those eyes of sea
...and my skin became as sand,
...as soil,
......pulsing,
........pulsing...

My lungs expanded with the breath of Another;
...a breath that instantly bound this body and soul.

But it is a breath now held.

For try as I might,
...I cannot exhale, here.

Then the one with the eyes of the sea said,
..."The time will come, yes.
....The time will come when you can no longer not go.
....The time will come when you can no longer not..."

...breathe?

New Poem

Here's a surprise admission by none other than anonymOOkie..
Who used to have an awesome blog then disappeared into the great black hole of the blogosphere..

g-d is amazing

let me tell you why

he created us - HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

ginormous

monstrously massive

and then

He squished us into this tiny (FREAKIN ANNOYING) little body

can you imagine anything more cruel than a huge entity being compressed into a tiny space, with no room to breath, nowhere to move, no space to experience freedom?

so what did He do?

He gave us a brain and a heart

a gateway into our soul

a portal out of our soul

hashem gave us these gross slimy organs so our soul could breath, find room to move and most importantly experience freedom......

now.. why do I say all this?

because my soul's been feeling squished

compressed

constricted by layers upon layers of fears and thoughts and skin and sins and earth and dirt and dollars and inhibitions and sadness and uncertainty

and today

clarity

my soul, through a tiny entryway found its way out

projecting brilliantly, and beautifully empowering ideas

radiating with life

freeing it

and

now i feel

like

i can breath

once again.

ideas,

and

or

feelings

can save us

when we're drowning

and i think mine just did...

Good Story

I'd like to recommend this story..

The Tunnel

The Tunnel

They were walking
Through a dark tunnel
With just a faint flashlight
In their hand.

Looking for the exit,
They kept going and going.
But the tunnel
Appeared endless.
Worry fell on them.
Is there an exit?

Their quest continued.
And still no exit.
They thought about
Giving up but knew however
That they must keep going.
And so they kept going.

Finally, a light shone
From afar and lit up their hope.
As they came closer,
It became brighter.

Welcome to Jewish Creativity Xchange

I created this blog to celebrate Jewish Creativity and to encourage people to be creative.
I will accept submissions of short stories, poetry, essays, music, art and basically any means that you find to express yourself.
Those that are good will be posted and shared and eventually I'd like there to be contests.
It's a work in progress and I certainly welcome feedback and suggestions.
