The Tunnel

The Tunnel

They were walking
Through a dark tunnel
With just a faint flashlight
In their hand.

Looking for the exit,
They kept going and going.
But the tunnel
Appeared endless.
Worry fell on them.
Is there an exit?

Their quest continued.
And still no exit.
They thought about
Giving up but knew however
That they must keep going.
And so they kept going.

Finally, a light shone
From afar and lit up their hope.
As they came closer,
It became brighter.

  1. Thanks Suzy for your poem..

    It's beautiful..
Here's what I was feeling as I was reading this.

The first 2 stanzas describing the group walking through the darkness, the panic growing..especially when you wrote "Is there an exit?".
Like a nightmare, never ending tunnel..

But then the next stanza took an edge off of that feeling by the fact that they "thought about giving up.." which means that there is an escape somehow, and suddenly their trek through the tunnel was by choice.

  2. I'm sorta disappointed by the end. Would love for some words of wise explanation to ease my discomfort.

  3. I wanted show that when it seems like there's no hope, we should still continue going because eventually there's a light
